This position will be open for application for at least 3 calendar days from the posting date and may remain open based on business need. As an Assistant General Counsel – Transmission, you will support a wide variety of commercial transactions in Invenergy’s transmission business, providing legal advice, counsel, and guidance for development, construction, financing, and operation of transmission and energy generation projects.
- Provide legal support on commercial transactions from development through construction and operation, including financings, joint ventures, acquisitions, interconnection, procurement, construction, and O&M agreements.
- Guide transaction structuring and ensure consistency across deals while complying with internal policies.
- Select, engage, and manage sophisticated outside counsel.
- Review general commercial contracts and assist with other legal matters as they arise.

- JD from an accredited top law school with an active license to practice law.
- 5‑8+ years of experience at a law firm or in‑house counsel supporting utility‑scale energy projects or general M&A, project finance, construction, and procurement.
- Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex energy project development, construction, finance, offtake, and M&A agreements.
- Proven ability to research applicable laws, conduct due diligence, and manage transaction closings.
- Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.
- Prior experience with energy generation and transmission projects.
- Capable of working cross‑functionally with internal and external stakeholders under minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts clearly to management.
- Proactive self‑starter with a "roll‑up‑the‑sleeves" mentality, able to work independently and on teams.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Sound judgment, critical thinking, attention to detail, strong business understanding, and solid negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and balance a heavy workload.
Benefits
Compensation includes a base salary of $175,000‑$210,000 USD, an annual bonus of 25%‑40%, and eligibility for bonus programs. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401k, paid time off, and more.
