The Senior Civil Designer position is based in Leesburg, Virginia and will lead design efforts on moderate to complex civil infrastructure projects. Acting as a project manager or lead designer, the role requires guiding a team of engineers and consultants while delivering projects with limited senior‑staff support. The position also involves mentoring staff and collaborating across disciplines to meet client expectations.
Key duties include leading a team of civil engineers in analysis, design, and implementation oversight of municipal infrastructure and site plans. Responsibilities cover site assessments, technical report generation, client interaction, and the creation of detailed designs using Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent tools. The role also emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and staying abreast of industry trends.
Candidates must possess advanced proficiency in Civil 3D, strong technical and analytical skills, and the ability to train others in traffic analysis, pipe networks, and related software. Leadership, mentorship, and the capacity to perform final quality‑control checks are essential, as is experience selling services and building client relationships. Excellent oral and written communication, teamwork, attention to detail, problem‑solving, and proficiency with the MS Office Suite are also required.
A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and at least ten years of consulting experience (or an associate degree/certificate with fourteen years of relevant experience) are required, and the role is not eligible for sponsorship. Preference is given to candidates with twelve or sixteen years of experience, respectively.
