Description

• Perform limited repairs and preventive maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, filter replacements, tire rotations, and minor adjustments.
• Complete required paperwork for vehicle repairs, documenting parts usage and repair times.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections; identify, record, and report equipment deterioration for replacement or repair.
• Assist mechanics with repairs and projects as assigned by supervisor.
• Perform tire inspections, removals, and replacements.
• Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures.
• Ensure shop equipment and tools are in safe operating condition.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
• Assist in maintaining inventory and reporting in the M5 program.
• Use personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety‑toed boots, utility gloves, reflective vest, eye protection, and hard hat.
• Work in environments with moving objects, vehicles, machinery, dampness, humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.

Requirements

The Maintenance Apprentice will receive on‑the‑job training on performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and will assist with minor repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of company vehicles. This individual will learn how to properly maintain commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations and company standards.

The apprentice will work inside and/or outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat, and may be exposed to unpleasant sights, smells, and dangerous or toxic substances.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic hand tools and willingness to acquire additional tools as needed.
• Registered Level 3 Apprentice.
• Regularly required to speak and listen.
• Perform moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling.
• Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds as needed.
