What you would be doing

Collaborate with other teams to ensure company-wide adherence to applicable laws.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all legal complaints involving Peak Living or our properties.
Lead and manage the end-to-end process for legal complaints, including investigation, documentation, coordination with legal counsel (when applicable), and timely response to authorities, residents, or vendors.
Maintain meticulous records and documentation for all legal matters, ensuring accessibility, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Train and educate internal teams on relevant legal and compliance topics, ensuring awareness and adherence to updated regulations.
Prepare reports, summaries, and briefings for executive leadership on legal complaints, compliance trends, and regulatory updates.
Support special projects related to legal compliance, risk mitigation, and operational excellence.
Research and maintain a deep understanding of landlord-tenant laws, fair housing regulations, and other applicable legal requirements across all states in which Peak Living operates.
Monitor changes in federal, state, and local legislation affecting property management and residential operations; recommend updates to policies, procedures, and internal guidelines.

2+ years of experience in a legal, compliance, or property management setting, ideally handling landlord-tenant matters.
Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying legal risks and implementing solutions.
Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field; JD or law-related certification preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal information clearly to non-legal teams.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local landlord-tenant laws and regulations; experience across multiple states highly preferred.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Knowledge of Fair Housing laws, eviction procedures, and regulatory compliance processes.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple legal matters simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with document management systems, compliance software, or project management tools is a plus.
Experience in residential property management or multi-state operations.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and guide cross-departmental teams.
Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong project management skills with the ability to drive initiatives from start to finish.
