Buyer

Description

The Buyer role is responsible for analyzing and purchasing products and materials for distribution to our customers. It is key for this role to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers as well as our vendor partners.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors to enhance collaboration, communication, and trust, resulting in improved service levels.
• Purchase products as well as prepare and issue purchase and change orders.
• Partner with the Product Management team to align on inventory needs.
• Complete product returns to vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and returns with vendors to achieve cost savings and provide the most favorable business outcomes possible.
• Partner with the Regional Distribution Center (RDC) to ensure shipment quality.
• Reconcile vendor invoices and credits.
• Partner with the Pricing department to assure price alignment.
• Monitor and approve the transfer of material between the warehouse locations to balance stock, replenish inventory, or fill backorders.
• Collaborate with primary team members and cross functional teams to implement process improvements and adopt best practices.
• Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability
• Monitor inventory reports, demand, history, and cycle time to maintain proper inventory levels needed to achieve the necessary unit turns.

Requirements

• Experience with six sigma or lean processes
• 2-5 years of customer service experience
• Knowledge of and the ability to use Microsoft office products including Excel, Outlook and Word
• 5+ years of experience working as a Buyer or related function
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field
• Experience working in distribution and/or the electrical industry
• Associate’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field
• 2-5 years of experience working in supply chain
• 2-5 years of experience working cross functionally with other departments
