The Assistant Branch Manager acts as first‑line support to the Branch Manager, leading and supporting the team to deliver success. Responsibilities include providing an excellent customer experience, maintaining strong relationships with local customers and suppliers, processing orders by phone and in person, picking items for collection or delivery, and delivering a wide variety of products using a 3.5 t Box Van when required.
Additional duties involve checking incoming stock deliveries, putting stock away in the appropriate area, maintaining stock levels through regular counts, performing branch administration such as processing purchase memos and handling documentation, and prioritising health and safety for yourself and colleagues.
Required skills include a flexible approach to support various departments, previous experience in a builder’s merchant or building materials (preferred), supervisory experience in a retail or merchant setting, a full manual clean driving licence for van deliveries, and forklift experience (training provided if not).
