

WSP provides engineering, design, and consulting services across diverse sectors worldwide.
The technician will provide technical design and civil/structural drafting support for the development, design, and construction of port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in both the public and private sectors. Projects may involve piers, wharves, terminals, seawalls, dry docks, marinas, and other near‑shore or offshore facilities, and the work must meet or exceed industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
In this position you will work closely with the engineer‑in‑charge and other technical professionals to produce phased design submittals, generate CADD drawings, sketches, and renderings, and resolve design details using CADD or similar software. You will also create design‑phase deliverables such as reports, plans, models, sections, details, and material lists, while gathering data from surveys, documents, and sketches to support drafting. Collaboration with cross‑functional drafting specialists and adherence to city, state, and federal regulations are essential, as is maintaining a strong safety record and flexibility in work schedules.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least nine years of relevant drafting and design support experience, and solid knowledge of drafting principles, codes, and compliance practices. They must be able to perform technical calculations, interpret plans, and communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical audiences. Strong self‑leadership, attention to detail, multitasking, and independent work capabilities are required, along with proficiency in technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and mathematical tools.
Preferred qualifications include an associate’s degree or industry certification, and experience with Revit, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, Autodesk ReCap or AutoTurn. Prior drafting work on ports and marine structures, whether new designs or rehabilitations, is also valued.

The expected salary range for this role across all locations is $73,000 to $128,000, subject to experience, qualifications, and geographic factors. WSP reserves the right to adjust compensation and provide additional benefits in accordance with applicable laws.
