The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing the quality of suppliers of ESS and power automotive lithium‑ion batteries. Duties include new‑supplier introduction and review, incoming quality control during mass production, supplier anomaly handling, continuous improvement, quality‑system construction, and audits. The role works cross‑functionally to ensure stable quality of key raw‑material supplies such as cells, modules, packs, containers, and BMS.
Key responsibilities include conducting ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 assessments of potential suppliers, guiding new suppliers to establish compliant quality systems, providing training, and approving PPAP releases. The engineer collaborates with R&D, purchasing, and project teams to drive APQP and PPAP activities, develop inspection standards, manage non‑conforming materials, and swiftly address quality issues from production lines or customer feedback. Additional tasks involve coordinating corrective and preventive actions, tracking improvements, analyzing supplier quality data (PPM, defect rate, return rate), and assisting suppliers in problem‑solving methods such as 8D, 5‑Why, and PDCA.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science and be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder. At least three years of supplier quality management experience—preferably in the power‑battery or energy‑storage industry—are required, along with a willingness to travel up to 25 %. The role demands familiarity with cell, module, pack, and BMS production processes, proficiency in ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA6.3, and quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, as well as strong problem‑analysis skills (8D, 5‑Why, fishbone, DOE) and failure‑analysis capability.
