Description

BKF Engineers is hiring a Senior Project Surveyor to lead survey project delivery, coordinate staff, and uphold quality standards. The role involves making technical decisions, mentoring junior team members, and spotting opportunities for additional services. The Surveyor may also assist with proposals, attend project meetings, and support client coordination, while contributing to business development by promoting BKF’s services and identifying new projects.

Key duties include preparing construction staking calculations from plans and CAD files, creating mapping deliverables such as boundary, ALTA, topographic surveys, plats, and legal descriptions, and post‑processing field data collected via total stations, GPS, levels, 3D laser scanners, and unmanned aerial systems. The Surveyor will also build 3D models of sites and structures for owners, architects, engineers, and contractors, and may travel to various job sites and offices as needed.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, together with at least four years of office surveying experience and progressively increasing responsibility. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or LSIT certification is highly desired. The candidate must have a deep understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment, be proficient in CAD software—particularly Autodesk Civil 3D—and have construction staking experience, including reading plans and preparing cut sheets.

Experience processing laser‑scanning data, including registration and 3D modeling, is a plus, as is the ability to lead special projects and work flexible hours. The position may require hybrid‑remote work, travel between BKF offices and off‑site locations, and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds with accommodations. Work conditions involve a typical office environment with intermittent low‑to‑moderate noise and a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven atmosphere.
