Prepare and issue bid package to subcontractors for trades we do not self-perform (Electrical, Civil, Plumbing, Fabrication/erection of large steel structures, Third Party Weld Testing, Painting, Passivation, etc.).
Ensure compliance with Alberici QA/QC and safety standards as well as client and industry requirements.
Review available plans and specifications to make sure estimated materials are compliant.
Research and develop innovative means and methods.
Coordinate with other team members when working on larger multi-discipline estimates.
Evaluates all contract documents including all bid drawings, specifications, general conditions and if necessary, visits the project site.
List items taken off from piping documents on a standard takeoff sheet and categorize said items by their proper pipe specification.
Estimate small piping projects with minimal documentation based on field experience.
Visualize what is not apparent or missing from project documentation and make efforts to mitigate those potential risks.
Application of company historical rate and production information for estimates.
Organize the take-off process to conform to the bid breakdown forms and submittals.
Process and manage large number of documents and data, organized to allow recall of work breakdowns, sketches, and other information to substantiate the pricing estimate.
Identifies vague scope requirements or areas of question/concern to qualify bids.
Read a client provided piping bill of materials.
Read and takeoff items shown on piping orthographic (plan) drawings.
Solicit pricing from material vendors and subcontractors.
Prepare proposals, when necessary, in conjunction with business development resources.
Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management.
Assist with determining installation schemes to establish project schedule, and duration, crew sizing, and ability to quantify geographical challenges, etc.
Assists project management staff with pricing issues on major project revisions after award.
Maintain a list of clarifications, assumptions, and qualifications identified as risks and discrepancies are detected during development of proposals.
Read and takeoff items shown on Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).
Develop project schedules with emphasis on pipe erection; write execution plans as required.
Communication with Senior Managers - Communicate critical issues and estimate assumptions up to the Manager as they arise to ensure everyone is on the same page for the reviews to eliminate late changes.
On successful bids coordinate with operations teams to provide a thorough transition and turnover of the estimate.
