The Supplier Quality Engineer role is an enthusiastic, self‑motivated position that thrives in a fast‑paced environment. Located at the Michigan City manufacturing site, the engineer will manage the relationship between the organization and the quality department for each supplier, leading supplier system, product, and product‑approval activities while working toward zero‑defect outcomes through continuous process improvement.
Key responsibilities include serving as the primary quality liaison for assigned suppliers, conducting quality management system, process, and product audits, and overseeing the supplier onboarding process. The engineer will drive supplier improvement strategies, support cost‑related workshops with procurement, own the APQP process, and manage PPAP approvals and issue‑resolution activities such as 8D problem solving and charge‑back processes.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field and have at least three years of supplier quality experience. Required knowledge includes ISO 9001, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18001, internal auditor certification, and proficiency with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, GD&T, and problem‑solving tools. Six Sigma or ASQ certifications are preferred, and up to 50% travel to domestic and international suppliers is expected.
