The Manufacturing Equipment Supervisor oversees and coordinates activities across manufacturing sites to maintain, repair, retire, relocate, and install plant equipment. They gather bids for outsourced work and prioritize repair and improvement projects with approval from the VP of Manufacturing.
In this role, the supervisor manages tool and supply requisitions, contracts external vendors for specialized projects, and inspects work areas to determine necessary materials, equipment, and labor. They ensure completed work meets blueprints and standards, enforce safety policies, and adjust procedures to meet production schedules. Additionally, they operate and train staff on equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and bulldozers, and plan equipment upgrades and maintenance.
The supervisor directs the maintenance team on‑site, handling planning, assignment, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions in line with company policies and legal requirements. They address employee complaints, resolve problems, and ensure overall coordination of the unit.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED and have between six months to one year of relevant lead experience plus five years of maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The position requires strong language skills for reading technical documents and writing reports, mathematical abilities for calculations, and planning skills to prioritize work and set goals. Reasoning ability, basic computer skills for web research and email, and completion of BFS safety training are also essential.
The job involves regular sitting, occasional standing and walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees frequently use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, and may be exposed to moderate noise, fumes, weather conditions, and moving machinery.
