  • Expand expertise through occasional travel to EHS training events
  • Champion sustainability initiatives by actively contributing to company-wide environmental programs and aligning plant goals with broader organizational objectives.
  • Implement best-in-class practices by rolling out plant-level environmental policies and programs tailored to the unique demands of wood treatment operations.
  • Guide and empower teams by providing clear direction to supervisors and plant employees on all health and safety matters.
  • Own the permitting process by managing applications, renewals, and modifications to ensure timely approvals and regulatory alignment.
  • Lead proactive safety initiatives through facility inspections, audits, and hands-on training sessions.
  • Respond decisively to incidents by investigating spills or environmental concerns and ensuring swift corrective and preventive actions.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents with thorough accident and incident analysis to prevent future risks.
  • Champion compliance by implementing health and safety policies, programs, and procedures that set the standard.
  • Lead proactive compliance efforts by conducting regular facility inspections to meet and exceed local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Ensure precision and accountability with accurate, timely reporting and meticulous recordkeeping.
  • Drive continuous improvement through detailed environmental audits that identify opportunities for enhanced sustainability and compliance.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience maintaining accurate environmental and safety documentation.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with environmental compliance programs such as hazardous waste management (RCRA), stormwater permitting, SPCC, or air permitting.
  • Professional certification(s) such as: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Occupational Hygiene & Safety Technician (OHST), HAZWOPER 40-hour certification
  • Five (5) or more years of Environmental, Health & Safety work experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry standards and Washington OSHA regulations.
  • Experience within wood treating, lumber, chemicals, or similar heavy industrial environments.
  • First Aid / CPR and Train-the-Trainer certification(s).
  • Ability to purchase Company stock
  • DOT hazardous materials shipping certification and/or experience with waste manifesting.
  • EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead safety initiatives across teams.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver employee training on environmental, safety, or health topics.
  • Familiarity with behavior-based safety programs or continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) initiatives that integrate EHS performance.
