The Transportation Planner role sits within the Planning and Design team, which combines planners, economists, designers, financial modelers and technical specialists to provide innovative, impactful solutions for clients throughout the United States, Canada and beyond.
- Conceptualize, develop, and deliver client projects in multimodal planning, regional planning, TDM, and equitable, sustainable mobility (e.g., transit needs analysis, Smart City strategy, BRT service options, rail economic impact studies).
- Manage own work to meet budget and quality targets, with the potential to oversee others’ work.
- Support Planning & Design practice through client engagement and proposal development.
- Mentor and support early‑career professionals.
- Communicate findings compellingly in written, oral, and graphical formats (charts, infographics, flow‑charts).
- Deliver projects focused on decision‑making, governance and policy development.
- Work with public‑sector clients such as transportation, housing, land‑use, energy and economic‑development agencies.
- Manage projects and teams, including utilization planning, task allocation and commercial management.
- Produce successful proposals for public‑sector solicitations (EOIs, RFQs, RFPs).
- Provide technical support across multiple disciplines, such as strategic planning, multimodal design, corridor studies, policy development, scenario planning, stakeholder facilitation, business‑case development, demand management, data analysis, applied research, decision‑support processes, and advanced modelling tools (GIS, EMME, TransCAD, R, Python).
- Stay current with emerging best‑practice guidelines in transportation, smart cities, micro‑mobility and urban transport.

- Demonstrate effective consulting skills: listen, clarify client problems, define scope, manage time and resources, and protect project margins.
- Collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced environment with high personal accountability.
- Possess 3–5 years (Consultant) or 5–8 years (Senior Consultant) transportation‑planning experience.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a relevant field.
- Use visualization tools like Illustrator, InDesign, Tableau or Power BI.
- Ability to delegate, learn quickly and enjoy developing new skills.
- Detail‑oriented, able to multitask, prioritize workloads and meet strict deadlines.
