Key responsibilities include engineering and design of aerial, buried, and conduit OSP facilities; preparing drawings, loop loss calculations, and switch serving area designs; conducting field measurements; developing and monitoring project budgets; and ensuring quality through job inspections. The engineer also prepares permit packages for multiple agencies, coordinates with municipal officials and other utilities to avoid delays, and updates engineering tools such as FROGS, Varasset, and SiteTracker.
Additional duties involve managing SSP contractors for timely, cost‑effective project completion, supporting make‑ready and joint‑use work on Frontier‑owned poles, conducting site surveys, handling plant damage requests, and maintaining accurate engineering records and correspondence.
We are seeking a detail‑oriented OSP Engineer to support telecommunications infrastructure projects. The role focuses on the design, planning, and implementation of outside plant (OSP) projects involving copper and fiber networks, requiring strong engineering, permitting, and construction coordination skills, as well as budget management and compliance with company and industry standards.
The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of hands‑on copper and fiber optic network engineering experience, at least 5 years in OSP‑related work including permitting and fiber record management, strong project management and organizational abilities, proficiency with Frontier engineering systems, and excellent communication skills with municipal officials, utilities, contractors, and cross‑functional teams.
