Core duties include coaching project teams on the Last Planner System and 5S, acting as the primary point of contact for lean‑process queries, and coordinating kick‑offs, pull‑plan sessions, and weekly check‑ins. The specialist also updates schedules using project‑management software, tracks variances and key performance indicators, leads training bootcamps, and assists the Lean Manager with process mapping and efficiency evaluations.
The Lean Process Specialist plays a key role within the Lean Department, providing technical expertise, leadership, and effective communication while supporting multiple business partners. This position drives the adoption and accountability of lean tools, especially the Last Planner System, and seeks creative solutions through field experience and continuous learning.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline, and have at least five years of hands‑on construction project experience that includes exposure to all project phases and lean construction methods. An equivalent blend of education and experience may also be considered.
Key competencies include a passion for lean construction, strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset. Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Visio, and the Microsoft Office suite is required, along with the willingness to travel for training opportunities.
The role is primarily office‑based with occasional field coaching, requiring the ability to work at a stationary workstation for extended periods and to travel to other sites for meetings and trainings. Physical demands are minimal but include close‑range inspection and consistent information exchange.
