  • Standardize AP policies and procedures across Edmonton and Winnipeg teams to ensure consistency, control, and compliance.
  • Focus on continuous improvement through engagement and consultation of key stakeholders and business partners.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, precision, transparency, and accountability.
  • Assist with period-close activities related to AP, such as accruals, aged payables reconciliation, vendor statement reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and internal controls.
  • Evaluate existing AP processes to identify opportunities for optimization and alignment.
  • Facilitate change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and practices.
  • Support regular business reporting requirements.
  • Develop and implement process enhancement strategies to increase efficiency, and business partnership effectiveness.
  • Enforce segregation of duties and other internal control procedures to mitigate risk.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal business partners.
  • Oversee, mentor, and develop AP teams in both Edmonton and Winnipeg to ensure consistent performance, role alignment, and job satisfaction.
  • Identify potential risks associated with business processes and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Develop KPIs and utilize data analytics to identify key trends, measure performance, and drive decision-making.
  • Review, approve, and maintain process documentation, including workflows, procedures, and controls.

  • Expert level Microsoft Excel skillset and knowledge
  • Experience working in Viewpoint (TC1) is considered an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related discipline, or equivalent years of experience in Accounts Payable functions are a must have for this role
  • Self-motivated, with a high degree of ownership and responsibility, able to work independently and within a team setting
  • Demonstrated success in business process development, showcasing strong project delivery methodologies and capabilities
  • Experience with ERP or system implementations related to finance functions (such as AP, AR, Payroll, GL, etc.) is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of procure-to-pay (P2P) processes, regulatory requirements across Canada, and relevant compliance standards
  • 7+ years of Accounts Payable experience and progressive responsibilities
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience leading a team, setting KPIs, and managing workflows
  • Ability to think critically, analyze situations, and develop creative solutions focused on efficiency and improving existing processes to solve financial and operational problems
