Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Experience with traffic and safety analysis. Knowledge of the MUTCD and Highway Capacity Manual.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
Minimum of 10 years' professional experience within Traffic and/or Highway engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in State of Kansas or Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Other state licensing may be acceptable but will need to obtain licensure in other Midwest states as needed.
Shows understanding of team management, develops project scope of work, estimating manpower needs, prepare CPM schedules, and tracks project progress.
Thorough knowledge and experience with MicroStation CAD and MS Excel and Word (required), OpenRoads Designer (preferred).
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Experience in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and various engineering software systems depending on engineering discipline.
Experience working with KDOT or MoDOT and other local transportation agencies.
Experience with design of traffic control elements such as plans, specifications and estimates for traffic signals, roadway signing, pavement markings, and work-zone maintenance of traffic plans, preferred.
Experience with traffic simulation software (Synchro, HCS, Sidra or VISSIM).
Certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE), preferred.
