A major aspect of the position is supporting and guiding the design team, using your experience to inspire, problem-solve, and help team members meet their targets. This includes mentoring staff on design standards, materials, documentation quality, and attention to detail. You will work closely with Directors to refine pitch styles, maintain standards, and balance workloads, while staying informed about industry trends through supplier meetings and trade fairs.
The role covers all stages from concept to completion. Key responsibilities include providing creative direction, developing design concepts, allocating resources, briefing teams, and ensuring project objectives are met through regular reviews of schedules, design packages, FF&E proposals, and financials. You will also manage a portfolio of smaller projects, preparing programmes aligned with payment schedules and monitoring timesheets to identify resourcing or budget issues.
Success in this role requires strong practical skills, deep knowledge of FF&E and technical design, and excellent client-facing abilities. Candidates should have at least eight years’ experience, a proven record on large-scale high-end projects, and confidence presenting ideas. Creativity, initiative, flexibility, organisation, and a positive attitude are essential, along with experience mentoring junior team members and delivering high-quality work under pressure.
