  • May physically restrain inmates, quell disturbances and otherwise assist custodial forces in emergencies;
  • This role is responsible for supervising all aspects of Correctional Maintenance within a Correctional Facility.
  • The unit also coordinates compliance with OSHA standards and environmental guidelines.
  • Incumbents in this class may be required to respond to after hour emergencies as requested by facility supervisors.
  • This unit is responsible for providing centralized direction and technical assistance throughout the agency, including management of the capital budget and plan; project design, approval and management; facility preventative maintenance; and repair.

  • Consults with department head and subordinates concerning requisitions and specifications for supplies, materials and equipment;

  • Assigns, supervises and evaluates work of employees and inmates;
  • Outlines and directs a preventive maintenance program;
  • Evaluates maintenance needs and determines best method of repair or installation;
  • The unit coordinates the recycling program of the Department of Correction, recycling over 1,310 tons of cardboard and similarly large numbers of plastic, glass and cans.
