Heavy Civil Estimator responsible for cost estimation, bid proposal preparation, and project analysis for grading, paving, and bridge construction projects.
Estimation & Bidding: Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for grading, paving, and bridge construction projects by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and other documentation. Develop preliminary project schedules.
Project Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of potential projects to determine feasibility, risk, and profitability. Collaborate with the project management team to align project objectives and strategies. Compile project risk matrix and formulate risk mitigation strategies.
Client Interaction: Engage with clients during the bidding process to clarify project requirements, adjustments, and to foster strong professional relationships. Present and explain project proposals to clients, designers, and operations teams.
Cross-section and mass haul analysis.
Collaboration: Work closely with the project management, engineering, and construction teams to ensure seamless project transitions from estimation to execution.
Vendor & Subcontractor Solicitation & Coordination: Liaise with vendors and subcontractors to solicit and evaluate bids, ensuring all estimates include up-to-date pricing and availability of materials and labor. Perform quote comparisons and make recommendations for selection.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all estimations, bids, and initial project specifications to ensure transparency and accuracy in project initiation. Assist in oversight of historical cost database, bid management, and estimating software.

Able to manage multiple bids and projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and the latest industry standards.
Capable of working in a team environment and handling client interactions professionally.
Design-build experience.
Highly proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimation within the heavy civil construction industry, specifically with grading, paving, and/or bridge projects.
Previous field experience in surveying and/or project management.
Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, walk, stand; Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly proficient in estimation software (e.g., Agtek Gradework, Highway, Underground and Materials, AutoCAD, HCSS HeavyBid, and/or Bid2Win, Bluebeam Revu)
Willingness to travel within local areas.
Recent DOT estimating experience.
This position requires in-person work.
