Work with multifunctional R&D team to lead planning, mechanical design, and build out of lab scale paper converting pilot equipment.
Plan and execute process & product development trials in lab or at manufacturing facility
Develop new paper packaging products according to customer needs & help customer integrate with their converting equipment
Provide technical feedback on customer questions and complaint root cause analysis as needed
Gain understanding of all relevant paper, mailer, and transportation lab tests. Expand internal testing capabilities as new needs arise
Become the technical lead for development and commercialization of select new packaging processes, products and product improvements

Experience in Paper, Packaging, or Converting industries
Willing and able to travel up to 25%
Six (6) or more years’ experience in a role involving design and hands on build of mechanical systems and control systems
Competency in a statistical software (e.g. JMP, SAS, Minitab, etc)
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
Lift up to 50lbs with or without assistance
Willing and able to perform work in a manufacturing environment during trials
Experience manipulating and analyzing test data to derive statistically sound conclusions
Four (4) or more years’ experience in a role utilizing strong mechanical design knowledge, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Prior experience working in innovation, product development, applied research, process improvement, and/or a manufacturing environment
