The OSP Engineer role supports telecommunications infrastructure projects, focusing on the design, planning and implementation of outside‑plant (OSP) copper and fiber networks. The position requires engineering expertise, permitting knowledge, construction coordination, budget management and compliance with company and industry standards.
- Design and plan OSP facilities for copper and fiber (aerial, buried, conduit) and prepare engineering drawings, loss calculations, and switch serving area designs.
- Conduct field measurements of poles, conduits and buried assets; develop project budgets, monitor costs and perform quality inspections.
- Prepare and submit permit packages to municipal, county, state, DNR, railroad and pipeline agencies, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with municipal officials, utilities and contractors to manage road projects, relocations, make‑ready work and joint‑use of Frontier‑owned poles.
- Update CAD (FROGS), Varasset and SiteTracker tools; support service orders, subdivision expansions, dark‑fiber MDUs and other network service needs.
- Lead site surveys, assist with PUC complaint investigations, create capital projects for cell towers or plant repairs, and resolve plant‑damage requests and cable count changes.
- Maintain engineering records, draft correspondence, reports and other departmental documentation.

- 3–5+ years hands‑on experience with copper and fiber optic network engineering; at least 5 years in OSP‑related work, permitting and fiber record management.
- Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Frontier engineering tools (FROGS, Varasset, SiteTracker) and effective communication with municipal officials, utilities, contractors and cross‑functional teams.
- In‑depth knowledge of permitting procedures and OSP construction practices; willing to travel locally (mileage reimbursed) and reside within 1 hour of Findlay, OH.
