Civil Field Engineering/CEI Inspector

Description

• Maintain detailed records of contractor daily operations, including manpower, equipment, methods, and events.
• Monitor work‑zone traffic control plans and identify discrepancies or potential issues.
• Monitor erosion control plans and identify discrepancies or potential issues.
• Perform sampling and testing of component materials and completed work.
• Verify dimensions of prepared and completed work.
• Inspect construction work and conduct field tests.
• Track and measure completed work quantities for payment.
• Perform survey checks.
• Read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Obtain required certifications and pass qualification tests within specified time frames.
• Perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, climbing, bending, twisting, or stooping for prolonged periods under various outdoor conditions.
• Use construction or inspection safety equipment, including fall protection, and lift/move up to 50 lb (shake up to 20 lb).

Requirements

• Hold a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related ABET‑accredited field.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Reach horizontally and vertically as needed for tasks.
• Prefer prior internship or related experience.
• Prefer EIT certification.
• Prefer DOT certifications.
• Prefer OSHA 10 certification.
