Key duties include developing and implementing customs compliance policies, coordinating with legal and trade compliance teams, reviewing customs declarations, classifying products using HS codes, and providing guidance on customs inspections and anti‑dumping matters.
- Develop and enforce customs compliance procedures aligned with Caterpillar standards and Indian regulations.
- Coordinate with India Legal and Trade Compliance teams to address customs queries, investigations, and show‑cause notices.
- Review and verify customs declarations for accuracy and classify products using the Harmonized System (HS) code.
- Provide HS‑code support for new products/components and validate existing classifications across Indian facilities.
- Communicate with customs officials, handle audits, and support facilities during customs inspections.
- Offer guidance on anti‑dumping matters, tariff barriers, and other trade‑related issues to internal teams.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews, identify customs risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Deliver training on customs compliance and maintain records and databases for all customs documentation.
- Work a standard five‑day office schedule in Bangalore, India.

Candidates should hold a degree in law, finance, business administration or a related field, with proven compliance experience and risk‑management skills. Strong communication abilities, business acumen, and professional ethics are essential; a certified compliance professional is a plus.
The role requires extensive knowledge of international trade regulations, standard operating procedures, data accuracy, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and solve complex problems.
- Hold a graduate or professional degree in law, finance, or business; certification in compliance is advantageous.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in international trade, SOP design, accuracy, analytical thinking, and problem solving.
