A Telecom Technician 3 is responsible for installing, planning, organizing, and scheduling communications cabling and equipment to complete work orders, while assigning tasks, ensuring high‑quality installation, and performing quality inspections. The role oversees a crew of five or more technicians and apprentices, monitors task completion and compliance, and travels up to 50 % of the time. Technicians are expected to work toward becoming qualified BICSI Technicians and receive full‑time employee benefits.
The position requires safe use of hand and power tools, wearing required personal protective equipment, and active participation in daily safety briefings. Technicians must follow all safety policies, procedures, codes, and industry standards, and maintain a clean work area and secure tools and materials each day.
- Install, inspect, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low‑voltage telecom systems (fiber, Cat5/6/6A) and associated hardware.
- Survey and document existing copper and fiber infrastructure using electronic devices.
- Create and maintain as‑built drawings, rack elevations, and floor/wall layouts.
- Produce 4‑week look‑ahead plans for productivity, material procurement, and tracking.
- Train and supervise apprentices and a crew of 5+ technicians, ensuring quality and safety compliance.
- Perform daily safety briefings, wear required PPE, and follow safety policies.
- Calculate grounding conductors, conduit sizes, and raceway layouts.
- Secure tools and materials daily and maintain clean work sites.
- Travel up to 50% to job sites.

Applicants need at least six years of experience in the commercial communications industry, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, and reliable transportation. They must pass background and drug checks, demonstrate the ability to read plans and specifications, and possess strong communication, time‑management, and organizational skills. Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lb, work at heights up to 60 ft, and perform repetitive motions is required.
