The role focuses on maintaining cleanliness, safety, and minor repairs throughout the facility, supporting shelter residents and collaborating with the Special Projects Manager on maintenance issues.
- Perform routine janitorial tasks, light maintenance, grounds upkeep, garbage removal, and weeding; replace locks and bulbs; handle minor carpentry and painting.
- Respond to light maintenance or cleaning emergencies.
- Address shelter clients’ cleanliness concerns and report maintenance needs to the Special Projects Manager.
- Inspect interior and exterior daily for graffiti, damage, faulty lighting, and safety hazards.
- Assist the Special Projects Manager with site inspections and generate work requests for maintenance.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning and light‑maintenance supplies.
- Prepare units for new intake, including cleaning, light maintenance, painting, and coordinating vendor work.
- Complete LIHI work orders for non‑routine cleaning and grounds work; document repairs via work requests.

Benefits
The Janitor position is a full-time, non-exempt, unionized role (Local 8 OPEIU) located at Nichols Court, 7544 MLK Way South, Seattle. It reports to the Area Manager and works Sunday‑Thursday 8 am‑4:30 pm with an hourly wage of $23.15‑$25.43.
