Senior Cost Manager - Data Center Construction

Description

• Develop and maintain detailed cost plans and estimates throughout design and delivery phases.
• Produce monthly cost reports, executive summaries and funding data for stakeholders.
• Coordinate cost information from design teams, general contractors, subcontractors and vendors for validation and auditing.
• Compile built cost records for benchmarking and continuous improvement.
• Lead procurement strategy, pricing reviews, scope validation and commercial negotiations.
• Manage final accounts and ensure timely agreement.
• Own change control: review, estimate, negotiate, reconcile change orders and track post‑contract cost variances.
• Support cost risk analysis, scenario planning, contingency management and commitment tracking.
• Implement robust cost control systems, including Earned Value Management where applicable.
• Integrate cost with schedule and scope, partnering with project controls and scheduling teams.
• Drive engineering priorities based on cost impact and lead value‑engineering initiatives.
• Monitor market trends and provide timely cost insights.
• Serve as primary client interface, delivering service excellence and executive updates.
• Ensure adherence to internal Business Management Systems and delivery methodologies.
• Mentor and coach junior team members to foster a high‑performance culture.
• Manage financial performance, including margin tracking and monthly forecasts.
• Comply with SOX controls where applicable.

Requirements

This is an onsite position that requires regular visits to project sites on the south side of the Atlanta metropolitan area, with on‑site presence requirements subject to change based on client needs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or related field.
• 5–7+ years of cost management/project controls experience in mission‑critical environments such as data centers.
• Construction consultancy background preferred.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems and hyperscale data‑center infrastructure.
• Expertise in budgeting, financial reporting, cost control systems and Earned Value Management.
• Proven procurement and commercial contract management skills.
• RICS accreditation or progress toward it is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Proficiency with industry‑standard cost management software.
