The Transportation Planner role is part of the Planning and Design team, working alongside planners, economists, designers, financial modelers and technical specialists to create innovative, impactful solutions for a diverse client base in the United States, Canada and beyond.
- Collaborate with colleagues to conceptualize, develop, and deliver client projects in multimodal planning, regional planning, transportation demand management, and equitable sustainable mobility, including projects such as transit investment prioritization in California, a Smart City Strategic Plan for Southern California, a TDM strategy for Culver City, BRT service options in New Jersey, and rail economic impact analysis.
- Manage personal workload to meet budget and quality expectations, with the ability to oversee the work of others as needed.
- Support the Planning & Design practice through client engagement and proposal development.
- Mentor and support early‑career professionals.
- Work with public‑sector clients, including major transportation, housing, land‑use, energy, and community‑economic development agencies or ministries.
- Utilize project and team management capabilities, including utilization planning, task allocation and commercial management of consulting engagements.
- Develop successful proposals for public‑sector solicitations (EOIs, RFQs, RFPs).
- Provide technical support across 2‑3+ disciplines such as strategic planning, multimodal design, corridor and first/last‑mile studies, governance, scenario planning, stakeholder facilitation, business case development, transportation demand management, data analysis, applied research, decision‑support processes, and complex transportation modelling using tools like GIS, EMME, TransCAD, R, Python.
- Create visualisations with software such as Illustrator, InDesign, Tableau or Power BI.

- Demonstrate effective consulting skills: listen, clarify client problems, define project scope, manage time and resources, and protect margins.
- Communicate findings compellingly in verbal, written, and graphical formats such as graphs, flow charts and infographics.
- Apply experience on projects focused on decision‑making, governance and policy development.
- Possess 3‑5 years (Consultant) or 5‑8 years (Senior Consultant) of relevant transportation planning experience.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
- Stay familiar with emerging best‑practice guidelines in transportation, smart cities, micro‑mobility and urban transportation.
- Demonstrate ability to delegate, learn quickly and enjoy developing new skills.
- Be detail‑oriented, capable of multi‑tasking, prioritising workloads and meeting strict deadlines.

Compensation for the position ranges from $75 k to $90 k plus benefits. U.S. staff receive private medical, dental and vision coverage, commuter benefits, a Share Incentive Plan, a 3 % 401(k) contribution and an annual discretionary bonus, together with vacation, paid holidays and sick days. Canadian staff enjoy comparable benefits, including a 3 % RRSP contribution, vacation, holidays and unlimited sick days.
