The Systems Engineer applies principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to design, develop, test, and evaluate software and systems that enable computer functionality. This role involves analyzing user needs and creating software solutions to meet those requirements.

Guide coding of logical and physical database descriptions.
Implement security measures to protect data from unauthorized access or damage.
Review project requests to estimate time and cost requirements.
Plan, schedule, and supervise installation and testing of new products and system improvements.
Approve and define database development scope and limitations.
Direct programmers and analysts to modify existing databases and database management systems.
Develop standards and guidelines for software use and acquisition.
Designing and conducting test cases for complex electronic systems.
