Solar & Storage Engineer

Description

• engaging with a wide range of clients, including developers and financial institutions, to establish how our capabilities can help answer their questions
• Delivering insightful presentations to customers or other industry stakeholders
• Performing mentoring of junior or less experienced colleagues
• Executing projects successfully through careful project management
• Developing, reviewing and executing Owners, Lenders and Independent Engineer scopes of work
• Getting out on site and undertaking inspection services for solar & storage projects
• Developing compelling proposals that explain how our services can meet customer needs
• Conducting careful quality assurance checking of deliverables
• Supporting the continuous improvement and development of group procedures
• Conducting mentoring of less experienced colleagues
• Assisting clients with procurement, including contract negotiation and tendering.
• Developing technical specifications & providing assistance to clients for all aspects of solar farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction
• Explaining and discussing important results and outcomes from our work with customers or other stakeholders.
• Occasional work outdoors including site visits, travelling by car up to six hours and walking on uneven terrain may be required.
• Designing efficient solar farms and BESS considering complex site constraints
• Providing assurance on project viability through pre-feasibility and red-flag assessments
• Providing Owners Engineering and Lenders Engineering services for solar and/or storage projects
• Working on multiple projects, managing own time to meet project targets
• Completion of performance reviews and evaluation of solar farm installations
• Producing comprehensive high-quality written reports and other documentation for delivery to the client
• Conducting greenfield site visits to appraise the characteristics of potential development sites
• Some domestic and international travel to other company office locations, site locations, client offices and conferences.
• Design support and feasibility studies for solar and storage projects

Requirements

• Do you enjoy being able to clearly and concisely communicate the outcomes from your work to those who need it most?
• Do you have the technical competence and judgement to interpret and review complex technical analyses to ensure technical accuracy and quality?
• Good organisation and time management skills
• Do you have a knack for using engineering models or tools to understand the behaviour or characteristics of complex systems?
• Solar plant design and layouts (ideally using AutoCAD & PVCase or similar)
• Experience in developing proposals for work, including budgets, appropriate contractual terms, and undertaking negotiations on scope and price with customers.
• Do you understand how solar and storage projects work, and are able to apply that understanding to evaluating project feasibility or risks?
• Experience in the solar and storage industry
• Do you enjoy engaging with customers to understand their problems, and propose and demonstrate the value of technical solutions?
• Solar resource and energy assessments (including use of PVSyst)
• Are you great at building insight and understanding from careful analysis of detailed project information?
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
• Ability to produce clear written reports and communicate verbally in English
• Experience with building and maintaining professional relationships with customers
• To Work in Australia, Candidates should have (Working Visa, Permanent Residency, Citizenship).
• Are you logical, creative, and organised, and able to manage projects efficiently and effectively?

• Technical due diligence of solar farms and/or BESS for acquisition or project financing
• Technical due diligence of pre-construction through to operational solar and storage projects
• Can you mentor and build strong relationships with colleagues by exhibiting a genuine working style?
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues in a team environment
• Project management skills and experience
• Bachelor of Engineering or Science degree in solar or renewable energy or other relevant discipline (i.e. mechanical, civil, electrical engineering with relevant professional experience)
• Approx. 8 to 10 years of professional experience
