Launch your career in environmental consulting with ERM's award‑winning M&A Transaction Advisory team. The hybrid role is available in Manhattan, NY; Washington, DC; Boston, MA; Rolling Meadows, IL; Philadelphia, PA; Hartford, CT, and other locations. You will help global corporations and financial institutions navigate environmental, health, and safety risks during critical business transactions.
Every transaction hides environmental risks and opportunities. As a Consulting Associate, Environmental Due Diligence, you will uncover compliance issues that shape multi‑million‑dollar deals, enabling informed decisions and advancing sustainability goals worldwide.
You will deliver EHS and ESG due diligence for complex, multi‑site portfolios across local, national, and global markets. Your work will identify liabilities, risks, and opportunities that influence strategic business decisions and support clients in achieving compliance during mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Key responsibilities include performing EHS and ESG due diligence projects for multinational clients, managing multi‑person teams across regions, and conducting assessments aligned with ASTM Phase I and global protocols. You will prepare detailed reports on environmental liability risks and operational compliance, collaborate with project managers to identify transaction risks and opportunities, and communicate effectively with clients, ERM teams, and vendors. Projects must be delivered within scope, budget, and schedule while maintaining ERM’s quality standards.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (or 6+ years equivalent experience) is required, along with 0–2+ years of environmental consulting experience focused on due diligence. You must have solid knowledge of ASTM Phase I standards, strong written communication and organizational skills, and the ability to multitask, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred background includes industry experience in energy, manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, infrastructure, transportation, or retail sectors.
The anticipated annual base pay for this position is $70,000–$83,038, with eligibility for bonus pay depending on performance and business needs. ERM offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, parental leave, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and a 401(k) or RRSP/DPSP plan.
