The Mailroom Supervisor is responsible for managing the processing of United States and interdepartmental mail, as well as handling parcels and packages from United Parcel Service, Federal Express, and similar shipping services. They supervise mailroom staff in performing their duties and evaluate performance according to facility and corporate policies.
Key duties include receiving, sorting, distributing, and delivering incoming and interdepartmental mail, parcels, and packages; processing certified and registered mail; and computing postage rates and operating the mail meter for outgoing items. The supervisor also inspects mail received by inmates or residents for contraband in line with company procedures.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of mailroom operations experience, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred experience is one year of supervisory responsibility. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational, observational, and detail‑oriented skills, be at least 21 years of age, and be comfortable using Microsoft Office or similar software.
