Survey Party Chief

Description

• Lead on‑site survey crews and enforce safety through daily Tailgate Safety Meetings and Job Safety Analyses.
• Mentor and develop field survey staff to maintain high performance.
• Maintain organized field notes, sketches, and control documentation in line with project standards.
• Collect, verify, and process survey data using proper naming conventions for seamless office hand‑off.
• Coordinate daily with Project Managers and Land Surveyors to set goals, track progress, and resolve field challenges.
• Perform control checks, traverse angle closures, and level run validations before data submission.
• Track crew timesheets, vehicle usage, and equipment condition to optimize daily operations.
• Collaborate with engineering, GIS, and planning departments to ensure deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
• Participate in a 401(k) plan with company matching.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED (an associate’s degree in surveying or related field is preferred), have at least three years of experience as a Party Chief, and be proficient with Leica GPS, scanning, and total‑station equipment. Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, communication, and adaptability skills are essential, as is the ability to lift 50 lb, travel regularly across Pennsylvania and New York, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
