Structural Analysis Engineer

Perform advanced structural stress and/or dynamics analysis on components and assemblies for nuclear products or facilities, ensuring safety and design requirements.
Use finite element analysis (FEA) simulation software, hand calculations, and engineering judgment to assess stress, deformation, degradation behavior, and lifetime mechanical performance of nuclear reactor components.
Conduct structural analysis for systems, structures, and components, including pressure vessels, piping, nuclear reactor internals, nuclear fuel, and high temperature materials such as graphite.
Plan and perform the analysis required to assess aspects of structures and components, ensuring they meet intended functions and technical specifications.
Perform work in accordance with quality procedures for design and configuration management.
Provide independent reviews and acceptance reviews of engineering deliverables and data.
Create Verification and Validation (V&V) plans for analytical tools and support the qualification of toolsets.
Perform computations using hand calculations and analytical tools for structural, thermal, hydraulic, and other scoping calculations.
Develop design documentation, including design basis documents, technical reports, calculations, and drawings in accordance with procedures.
Support the assessment of systems and structures for manufacturability, assembly, and integration.

Proficiency with structural analysis hand calculations and structural FEA software programs (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, FEMAP, CAESAR, ROHR, LS-DYNA, PIPESTRESS).
A Ph.D. in engineering or related field may substitute for three years of experience.
Experience with metals (mostly steels) or ceramics, metallurgy, structural steel, alloys, nuclear reactor components.
Experience with metals (primarily steels) and/or ceramics (graphite, etc.) is highly desired.
Experience with FEA analysis using tools like Ansys, LS-DYNA or related analysis tools.
Proficiency with engineering hand calculations for stress analysis.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
