The Category Analyst role is an entry level position and will have exposure across all aspects of the business and work closely with Channel Business Managers & National Account Managers, along with Marketing and Category team in the development and implementation of strategies that will maintain and build Selleys’ competitive advantage in category management.
Reporting to the Head of Category, this role is responsible for developing and implementing compelling category strategies with key retail partners to achieve growth and revenue targets, by utilising shopper, consumer and market insights from multiple platforms and information sources.
- Identify opportunities for business growth through data analysis linked to category management principles
- Prepare and build reports by collecting, analysing and summarising data trends
- Provide analytical support to internal stakeholders
- Support the Category team to develop category growth strategies and plans for core segments in key customers
- Influence internal parties and make recommendations based on analysis conducted
- Identify growth opportunities for key customers through data mining initiatives

- High level of analytical, numerical ability, problems solving skills to develop proactive actionable insights
- Proven experience in a similar position with strong category management skills
- Knowledge across the core competencies of category management
- Strong influencing, leadership and coaching skills with the ability to develop strong relationships cross-functionally
- Tertiary qualifications and experience in the industry (FMCG, Hardware, Pharma) is desirable
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
