The Electrical Estimator’s primary role is to develop comprehensive construction estimates for underground and overhead distribution, transmission, and substation projects, providing all necessary information for client submission. Additionally, the estimator supports contract administration by creating budgets after a project award, and assists operations by preparing change‑order requests throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include reviewing project documents for bidding, participating in pre‑bid site walks, and preparing detailed labor, equipment, and material estimates. The estimator also builds resource‑driven schedules, manages subcontractor quotes and submittals, and collaborates with project management and contract administration from initial bid through project completion.
Applicants should possess a post‑secondary education in business administration, management, accounting or finance, or an equivalent background, coupled with at least three years of experience in project management or estimating. Strong written and verbal communication, problem‑solving abilities, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating/scheduling software such as Sage Timberline and MS Project are essential.
The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and handle tools regularly, as well as frequent communication in noisy, outdoor construction environments where exposure to fumes, vibration, and extreme weather may occur. Employees must meet these physical demands while maintaining safety and productivity on job sites.
