The Corporate Director of Field Construction Operations serves as the company‑wide subject matter expert for field execution excellence, focusing on the performance, development, and consistency of project superintendents. This role drives field leadership capability, standardizes best practices, and ensures consistent, high‑quality project delivery across all business units. Although the position has no direct reports, it is backed by executive leadership and has authority to influence field operations at every project site. The role offers remote flexibility with up to 75 % travel.
The director assesses superintendents’ skills through site visits and one‑on‑one interactions, participates in interviews for key superintendent hires, and creates individualized and group development plans to strengthen leadership, technical, and operational competencies. They also lead a company‑wide Superintendent Training Program that blends technical and leadership skills.
As an SME, the director provides input to develop and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures and execution standards for field operations, ensures superintendents are trained and aligned with company standards, safety protocols and quality requirements, and benchmarks internal and external best practices to maintain industry‑leading performance.
The director participates in pre‑construction planning for large and complex projects, advising on site logistics, staffing, schedule feasibility and constructability. They support site leadership during mobilization to ensure effective field setup and act as a resource to troubleshoot execution challenges and mentor superintendents throughout delivery.
Regular field audits are conducted to evaluate compliance with SOPs, quality and safety standards. The director provides clear feedback and actionable recommendations, tracks performance trends, and proposes strategic initiatives to address recurring challenges.
Candidates must have 15+ years of progressive construction field leadership experience, including senior superintendent roles on large‑scale ($100M+) EPC, pharmaceutical, food & beverage or similar process‑industrial projects. A proven record of improving field performance through training, process improvement and coaching, strong knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, safety and quality control, excellent communication and the ability to influence without direct authority are required. The role demands extensive travel across the continental United States and an influential, hands‑on, change‑champion mindset.
