The Directional Drill Operator/Locator safely operates a directional drill to place product underground, locates the drill head to monitor elevation changes, and decides on depths to avoid underground utilities. The role supports the line team and collaborates with departmental personnel.

Operate drill rig safely and efficiently, preparing job and equipment.
Pothole and verify all utilities intersecting the bore path.
Fill water tanks and mix drilling fluids with appropriate chemicals.
Locate drill head from start to end, ensuring correct depth and avoiding utilities.
Set up swivel, reamer, and pipe product for pull‑back.
Conduct pre‑bore walk‑through to plan path above or below obstacles.
Pull back product using appropriate hole opener and mud mixture.
Inspect and maintain drill and mixing equipment.

Valid CDL Class A with tanker endorsement.
OSHA 10 certification.
Preferred: 3+ years directional drill experience.
