Description

Essential duties include obtaining utility contact information, evaluating prior‑rights claims, reviewing utility plans, facilitating meetings, coordinating with DOTs and municipalities, and ensuring compliance with utility certification requirements. The position involves both office work and field site visits for data collection, meetings and other required tasks.

• Obtain utility contact and facility owner information
• Evaluate prior‑rights claims and provide client recommendations
• Review utility plans/records and resolve conflicts with owners
• Lead or facilitate internal and external utility coordination meetings
• Coordinate with DOTs and local municipalities as required
• Ensure compliance with DOT utility certification requirements
• Support project managers and practice leaders in client relationship development, including travel
• Conduct field site visits for data collection, meetings and related tasks
• Maintain required certifications

Requirements

KCI Surveying and Mapping South is seeking a Utility Coordinator to support the growth of our Utility Coordination Practice in Georgia. The ideal candidate brings at least two years of GDOT Utility Coordination experience and additional experience with other state agencies or municipalities. This role reviews plans for major highway construction projects, including structures and complex multi‑phase construction, and identifies potential impacts to existing utility infrastructure.

Pre‑employment drug screening, background check and possibly motor vehicle checks are conditions of employment.

• Apply engineering, surveying, or Subsurface Utility Engineering expertise (preferred)
• Minimum 4 years relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
• Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong communication and technical writing abilities
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
• Eligibility for Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
