The role involves interpreting drawings, schematics, formulas, and standards to establish and maintain quality processes and production operations in both the foundry and factory. Daily responsibilities include completing process and production reports, inspecting and testing new or modified tooling, developing process control standards, investigating customer complaints, and overseeing quarterly UL/CSA process inspections.
Laboratory duties encompass managing chemical inventories, mixing and standardizing chemicals, and maintaining lab organization and cleanliness. The incumbent monitors and responds to process alarms, makes corrective adjustments, and initiates actions across sand control, molding, core, inspection, and machining operations, while also tracking gauge calibrations and handling the packing and shipping of gauges for calibration.
Additional tasks include conducting follow‑up inspections on tooling and purchased or modified factory materials such as plugs, nipples, screws, and covers. The position requires performing various lab tests—sand compatibility, moisture, green strength, grain fineness, tensile, chill, spectrometer calibration, methylene blue, and acid drop testing—and supporting visual‑management practices, problem‑solving initiatives, and the creation of forms, templates, and instructions for data collection.
Candidates must hold a High School Diploma or GED, have at least one year of general labor experience, and possess two years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with variation‑reduction methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Shainin Red X, A3), strong math and analytical skills, proficiency with Excel for charting, competency with common shop tools, and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality are required. Applicants should reside within a 50‑mile radius of Amarillo, TX, unless they are active‑duty military.
