Senior Substation Engineer

Description

• Perform quality reviews for other engineers and designers
• Lead in preparation of proposals and scope development, including:
• Develop and improve processes, tools, and/or technology implementations
• Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members
• Lead coordination of design activities with other departments (Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line, etc.)
• Provide short-term field support during construction
• Calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
• Support business development and marketing initiatives
• Lead in the execution of engineering activities: Physical substation design including yard layouts, plans, sections, and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills of material
• Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel

Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with the National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI Standard
• Professional Engineer registration strongly preferred
• Excellent written - verbal communication skills
• Strong preference for those with:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program
• Minimum 5 years related experience (completion of master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience)
• Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria
