The role oversees the development and execution of safety strategic goals for market areas generating $400 million or more in revenue, providing budgetary guidance aligned with WM Safety Services.
The incumbent collaborates with corporate and market leadership to align safety objectives and manages the DriveCam system for analysis, reporting, and coaching. They lead the Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention program, oversee safety communications, incident investigations, district‑specific safety plans, hazardous energy control, regulatory compliance, facility safety audits, recognition programs, employee health initiatives, PPE procurement, and develop safety talent.
- Develop and execute safety strategic goals and budget guidance for market areas exceeding $400 M revenue.
- Partner with corporate and market senior leaders to align safety strategies and objectives.
- Oversee DriveCam system management, including analysis, reporting, coaching, and ride‑alongs.
- Lead Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention program by identifying high‑risk tasks and conducting protection validation studies.
- Coordinate safety communications and disseminate EH&S policies, initiatives, and awareness messaging.
- Manage incident investigations, capture data in the WM EH&S portal, and produce qualitative and quantitative reports.
- Ensure district‑specific safety plans are developed, operational, and aligned with incident trends.
- Direct hazardous energy control program (HECP) training, coaching, and compliance.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state DOT/OSHA regulations and collaborate with subject‑matter experts.
- Oversee facility safety systems, equipment reviews, weather/disaster preparedness, and conduct safety audits.
- Administer safety recognition program with performance criteria and feedback mechanisms.
- Manage PPE policies, procurement, and supply chain coordination for the market area.
- Coach and develop safety talent through observations, DriveCam events, and incident learnings.

Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree (or a high school diploma/GED) plus four years of relevant experience and seven to ten years in safety or operations management; preferred credentials include CSP, CIH, PE, QEP, REM, and CHMM certifications.
