Technicians will service, install and maintain portable fire extinguishers in line with current British Standard Guidelines. They will plan and complete call visits within their designated region, build professional relationships with clients, and ensure effective area planning to maximise travel efficiency. Responsibilities also include scheduled and reactive maintenance, clear communication of equipment status, liaison with service administrators, management of vehicle stock and tools, full site surveys for fire equipment and signage, and completion of required training and travel during busy periods.
Ideal candidates possess a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and the professionalism to work independently or as part of a team. Required experience includes fire extinguisher servicing with knowledge of BS5306 parts 3 and 8, a BAFE/FETA (or equivalent) qualification with triennial refresher training, and a technical background in the mechanical fire industry. Additional expectations are front‑line customer service experience, problem‑solving ability, flexibility to travel, computer literacy (Word, Excel, email, PDA/iPad), basic maths for fire rating calculations and quoting, and a full driving licence.
