Reporting to the Global Head of EHS, the Head of North America EHS will be responsible for providing leadership in health, safety, and environmental regulations to ensure a safe working environment across multiple business units in North America.

The incumbent will additionally create, drive, coordinate, and support EHS programs, management systems, and related EHS sustainability efforts within the organization.

  • Leading the regional NA EHS team, which includes operational leadership, resource planning, knowledge management, and the development of employees and the organization.
  • Functionally leading all site-specific EHS resources within the division to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring proactive alignment with functional units regarding upcoming regulatory changes and developing respective measures.
  • Driving and continuously improving EHS culture in North America by developing and implementing regional programs to foster and encourage ongoing EHS improvement.
  • Ensuring compliance with Responsible Care, local legal standards, and other EHS-related internal standards across sites, contract manufacturers, suppliers, and warehouses within the NA region.
  • Leading NA EHS management system, including the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS governance and services across the division.
  • Supporting and guiding regional management team on all EHS-related topics while aligning with them on EHS priorities.

  • Have knowledge and experience in Responsible Care, preferably applied to multiple locations of various sizes.
  • Experience in safety, including behavior-based safety, process safety, industrial hygiene, biosafety, and multimedia environmental programs, and their impact on overall EHS performance.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiating, influencing, and communication skills when engaging with stakeholders.
  • Know how to develop practical plans to implement EHS policies and procedures for sites of various natures.
  • Exhibit familiarity with U.S. and Canadian EHS regulations.
  • Are able to travel up to 25%, domestically and internationally.
  • 10+ years of professional EHS experience, with an emphasis on driving change to improve EHS performance through the implementation of sustainable EHS management systems.
  • Have previous leadership experience and people management skills to develop and deploy talent.
  • Hold a B.S. or preferably a M.S. degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related EHS discipline.
