Welding Engineer

Description

• Support and monitor robotic equipment, both hardware and software.
• Provide welding engineering support to production.
• Coordinate guidance from internal and external customers to meet their needs and perceptions.
• Collaboration with engineering and production teams for quality, warranty, and cost improvement activities.
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment while adhering to all policies.
• Conduct inspections of welding processes and products.
• Monitor preventive maintenance of welding equipment.
• Act as a technical resource for engineers, skilled trades, and production teams.
• Engage in process validation from concept to equipment start-up.
• Evaluate new developments in welding and robotics for application to current processes.
• Troubleshoot shop floor weld, robotic, and assembly issues and implement countermeasures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with related welding experience is preferred but not required.
• Apply knowledge of welding processes, including GMAW and RSW of mild steel components.
• Proficiency in monitoring weld parameters and quality using Miller Continuum and Fanuc Robot.
• Familiarity with TPS methods, Fanuc Robotics, CNC, Vision systems like Cognex/Keyence, Mitsubishi PLC, and Miller Pulse GMAW.
• Experience in plant floor troubleshooting, training, and problem-solving with root cause analysis.
• 0-3 years of experience; automotive experience is desirable.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Ability to analyze weld destructive test results and changes in weld consumable usage.
