Your Impact includes conducting geotechnical rock core logging and mapping at operating and abandoned mine sites, supervising drilling and earthworks subcontractors, and overseeing rehabilitation activities such as backfilling, concrete‑cap construction, fence and bat‑gate installation. You will apply problem‑solving and decision‑making skills in the field, maintain regular communication with senior project teams, and utilise survey equipment like cavity scanners, sonar, drones and surface tools. Data will be compiled and reviewed using Excel, Word, AutoCAD and other software, with analysis performed for rock‑mass characterisation, stability assessments and rehabilitation option development. You will also assist in report and proposal preparation, field planning, health‑and‑safety plans and contractor coordination.
The Skills That Set You Apart: a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (geotechnical/rock mechanics) or Geological Engineering, or a technician/technologist qualification, with eligibility for professional registration. Experience working outdoors in remote locations such as Northern Ontario and Québec, a valid Ontario driver’s licence (off‑road experience is an asset), ability to lift at least 15 kg and willingness to travel. Candidates must be living in or willing to relocate to Sudbury or Timmins.
