Stainless Steel Welder - Shop Fabrication

Description

The position of Stainless Steel Welder – Shop Fabrication involves planning, laying out, welding, installing, testing, and repairing process piping and similar tubular products on a long‑term stainless prefab piping project, following plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards. Work is shop‑based, steady through winter, and includes a required weld test.

• Supervise and train welder helpers.
• Examine and inspect working conditions, identify problems, and implement corrective actions.
• Select appropriate filler metals and construction materials for assignments.
• Produce quality work meeting plans, specifications, and industry standards.

Requirements

The role reports to the Job/Shop Foreman, supervises welder helpers, and requires 50+ hours per week, with potential irregular hours, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, lift up to 50 lb, and work in various environmental conditions.

• Prior welding experience in construction, mining, or related industry; two‑year vocational/technical degree preferred.
• Knowledge of welding codes, specifications, metal properties, shrinkage, and techniques; primarily using Regulated Metal Deposition (RMD) process.
• Ability to work in adverse weather and site conditions, including rain, snow, dust, heat, cold, and noise.
• Physical capability: lift 50 lb, climb ladders/scaffolds, work in confined or uneven spaces, and perform repetitive motions.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability if driving is required.
