The Marshal champions Layton’s core values, delivers predictable outcomes, and oversees the commissioning process from pre‑energization to project turnover. Key responsibilities include managing electrical room permits, verifying commission plans, conducting pre‑energization inspections, overseeing the LOTO program, auditing procedures, and serving as the subject‑matter expert for energy isolation. The Marshal also participates in high‑risk activity meetings, drives continuous improvement, and acts as the authority to halt unsafe work.
The Energy Marshal is a safety professional responsible for ensuring safe execution of energization and isolation activities, focusing on energy isolation procedures, auditing practices, and providing expert guidance on standards. The role requires a strong safety background and technical expertise in energy isolation, especially within data center environments.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, possess at least four years of energy‑isolation or safety experience, and have NFPA 70E certification. Experience with DC construction and commissioning, ability to work with both AC and DC systems, strong communication, collaborative skills, and proficiency in auditing against standards are essential.
