  • Research prospective clients and market sectors; translate findings into pursuit strategies.
  • Lead project pursuit efforts including RFQs, RFPs, interviews, and client presentations.

  • Collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams to support pursuit strategies.
  • Promote safety, collaboration, and high standards of quality in all activities.
  • Develop clear, persuasive messaging for proposals, presentations, and marketing collateral.
  • Contribute to long-term planning for targeted markets and corporate growth.
  • Support leadership with market research, forecasting, and pursuit cost analysis.
  • Maintain opportunity/pursuit logs and provide feedback on won/lost opportunities to strengthen future pursuits.
  • Represent SBBCC at industry events, pre-bid meetings, and community functions.

The Business Development Specialist plays a critical role in advancing SBBCC’s growth strategy. This position is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, strengthening client and partner relationships, leading pursuit efforts, and supporting corporate marketing initiatives. The role requires a proactive, relationship-driven professional who can balance strategy, technical knowledge, and communication skills to successfully position SBBCC in a competitive marketplace.

  • Proven ability to lead pursuits, develop proposals, and build client relationships.
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in business development or project acquisition, preferably in the A/E/C industry.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of sustainability trends (NetZero, Passive House, Carbon Neutral, etc.) a plus.
  • Experience with Design-Bid-Build, CM-at-Risk, PPEA and Design-Build delivery methods.
  • Strong knowledge of construction markets such as multi-family, government, healthcare, education, life sciences, and commercial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and PDF editing software (Bluebeam preferred).
